Abandon Editorial Hits the Road With Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal for "The Accountant 2" SXSW Premiere

Abandon Editorial hit the road with Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal in the lead up to The Accountant 2’s premiere at SXSW last month. Edited by Edward Khoma of Abandon Editorial and Directed by Peter Karl of Goodform, the promo video follows Ben and Jon as they embark on a classic road trip to Austin, Texas, humorously capturing all of the iconic and relatable moments along the way, from pit stops for snacks to jamming out to Brenton Wood’s timeless hit “Oogum Boogum.” The spot captures all of the scenic views a road trip has to offer, building anticipation as the duo finally arrives at the premiere, stepping onto the red carpet freshened up and in style.

With 25 minutes of improvised footage to work with, Edward crafted the edit, finding the right rhythm to highlight the duo’s natural chemistry and comedic timing. The project was first cut to four minutes, highlighting the strongest moments, before being refined to just over 90 seconds to ensure the humor landed without unnecessary set up.

Edward shared:

“It was great working with actors as talented as Ben and Jon because every take was usable. Goodform was highly collaborative and incredibly organized, which made my job easier. They knew exactly what they wanted, and they trusted me to focus on shaping the best moments. It all came down to cutting the right beats and finding the perfect cadence to make the jokes land effortlessly.”

Goodform Director, Peter Karl said:

“The editorial challenge on this was weaving together a series of classic road trip setups with Ben and Jon’s natural—and hilarious—improvisation. We knew the right balance would make for a fun, dynamic spot, and Edward nailed it. He found the perfect rhythm to let their chemistry shine.”

In The Accountant 2, Forensic accountant Christian Wolff teams up with his estranged but highly lethal brother to track down mysterious assassins. The film will be released in theaters on April 25th.
