Ad of the Day | The Surrender by Hans Zimmer
Oct. 30, 2024
Following the global success of the Andalusian Crush campaign, Ogilvy Spain has launched the much-anticipated second installment, titled Surrender. This new phase takes Andalusia's emotional allure to greater heights by collaborating with Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, whose powerful score infuses the campaign with a grand, cinematic experience that promises to leave a lasting impression.
A Journey Through History, Legacy, and Emotion
In Surrender, Zimmer's breathtaking compositions serve as the heartbeat of the campaign, echoing the profound emotional journey one undertakes when immersed in Andalusia. Narrated through the perspective of a composer struggling to capture the essence of a land so rich in history, Surrender continues to position Andalusia as a place of transformation where historical giants like Julius Caesar, Napoleon, and Orson Welles have all left their mark. The score mirrors this internal journey, filled with moments of grandeur, introspection, and ultimately, surrender to Andalusia's undeniable pull.
Juan Pedro & Javier Senovilla, Executive Creative Directors at Ogilvy Spain explained:
"Ogilvy’s vision for this project was about more than showcasing Andalusia’s beauty. We wanted to capture the deeper emotional and creative impact this region has on anyone who experiences it. Hans Zimmer’s music perfectly encapsulates the awe and surrender that comes with such an experience."
Bold New Direction in Travel Advertising
Surrender doesn’t simply invite viewers to visit Andalusia it pulls them into an emotional odyssey that challenges expectations. Through poetic narration, dramatic visuals, and a heart-stirring score, the campaign goes beyond the typical tourism ad to highlight the transformative nature of the destination. It reminds travelers that visiting Andalusia is not just about what they see, but about how they feel when they surrender to its impact.
This chapter of the campaign, like its predecessor, emphasizes Andalusia's role as more than just a destination; it is a place where personal and historical journeys collide. With striking visuals and a script that highlights Andalusia's unique legacy, Surrender invites viewers to experience the weight of this iconic land in a new way.

Andalusian Crush & Peter Dinklage
Last year’s Andalusian Crush was narrated by actor Peter Dinklage, who brought his deep connection with the region from his time filming Game of Thrones. This year, the campaign takes a new turn, with Hans Zimmer not only composing the score but also bringing the narrative to life through the music itself.
Filmed across some of the region's most iconic locations, including the palaces of Seville and the rugged beauty of the Sierra Nevada, the visuals blend perfectly with the score to evoke the campaign's theme of surrendering to Andalusia's enduring and transformative influence.
With Andalusian Crush having garnered prestigious accolades, including the Gran Premio Nacional de Creatividad, Surrender aims to deepen that impact, positioning Andalusia as a destination that transcends simple travel experiences.
