ArtClass welcomes director, writer, actor, comedian, producer, podcaster, and New York Times bestselling author Paul Scheer to its roster of directorial talent. An award-winning commercial director, Scheer brings his honest, sharp, and brilliantly comic cinematic sensibilities to the next-gen production company.

Scheer recently took home a Clio Award for his work directing “Incredibly Niche PSA” for Cann and a Shorty Award for his hilarious and powerful Super Bowl spot “Commercials Are Fake” for the mental health crisis hotline 988. His partnership with Hyundai on a streaming live comedy special, Celebrity Yard Sale, brought over two million viewers to Twitch in one day. He continues bespoke relationships across all media with Dick's Sporting Goods, Squarespace, Regal Cinemas and Sam Adams.

Kirsten Arongino, ArtClass’s Managing Director said:

“Paul is exactly the kind of talent we love to work with. As a writer and director, he blends sharp comedy with a distinct visual style that stands out. His work doesn’t just make you laugh—it sticks with you. And his performance background is a true superpower behind the camera. We’ve long been fans and are thrilled to welcome him to our roster.”

Scheer on signing remarked:

“I have admired ArtClass' work for the last year. They have such a defined sensibility that reflects their great taste and elevates their brand partners. Their work is beautiful, sharp, and exciting. I reached out to them as a fan and quickly realized that this was the type of company I wanted to be in business with. I can't wait to make great work together.”

Scheer is the author of the New York Times bestseller Joyful Recollections of Trauma, a memoir named Book of the Year by Booklist and Vulture in 2024, and a Best Audiobook finalist at the 2025 Audie Awards. A notable presence in TV and digital comedy, he has directed numerous episodes for series such as Childrens Hospital, Newsreaders, and FOX’s Party Over Here, which he also created. Other series created by Scheer include the Webby Award-Winning Arscheerio Paul Show with JASH, MTV’s Human Giant, and Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV. He co-created Fullscreen's Filthy Preppy Teen$ and Go90's Drive Share and executive produced the Real Hotwives franchise for Hulu. He starred in and co-wrote multiple episodes of FX’s The League.

In addition to his commercial work, Scheer has directed for Adult Swim, FOX, and Hulu, as well as a documentary for Disney+ about the history of a failed group of Marvel heroes called Brute Force. Scheer also directed several episodes of How Hungry Are You? an unscripted series where basketball star Serge Ibaka cooks for celebrity guests. Continuing his work in this space, Scheer is set to direct a forthcoming documentary with Supper Club, which is currently under wraps.

Scheer is a SAG Award-winning actor known for his roles in beloved series like Veep, Fresh off the Boat, Black Monday, The Good Place, Big Mouth, Lower Decks, and many more. He recently shot the pilot for DINKS at Amazon, which he is co-producing and starring in. DINKS is an improvised multi-cam comedy from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, alongside his wife, June Diane Raphael. Scheer also co-hosts the multiple award-winning popular podcasts “How Did This Get Made” and “Unspooled” and the recently launched YouTube series “Dark Web.”

ArtClass Partner and Director Vince Peone said:

“Partnering with Paul in comedy is like having Bruce Lee teach you mixed martial arts. We are so excited to have him join ArtClass’ comedy offering, with his many years of experience and many, many hyphenates.”
