Award-Winning Voice-Over Artist Kelley Buttrick & KB Voiceovers Unveil "Human Species" Mockumentary Series

Mar. 20, 2025

Award-winning voiceover artist Kelley Buttrick of KB Voiceovers mocks and crashes her way into 2025 with the launch of her comedic mockumentary series “Human Species” while dissecting the decade-old mistakes of her KB4 Jeep campaign.

“Human Species” mimics the style of a natural history documentary while humorously examining human behavior. Each 60-second episode delivers a tongue-in-cheek narration, bringing a wildlife documentary voice-over to everyday actions. With three episodes completed and a fourth on the way, Buttrick is sharing the series across social media and can be found on the KB Voiceover website.

Kelley shared:

“I've voiced documentaries, branded documentaries, and series, but never one on a topic as close to my heart as nature. In my first interview when I launched my business in 2010, I told the local reporter my ultimate goal was to voice a Discovery Channel series. If I get the opportunity to voice a natural history documentary, I’ll have accomplished everything I set out to do in my career. Creating this mockumentary series is certainly a unique way of marketing my voiceover business— if not the first of its kind in the industry.”

Kelley said:

“I’m hoping viewers will share the Human Species Mockumentary Series with anyone they know in the documentary industry. I got tired of waiting for a nature-focused documentary narrator audition to come in from my agents, so I decided to get my voice out there to create the opportunity on my own. I narrate each video in the series with a different documentary narration style.”

Marking the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking and award-winning KB4 Jeep campaign, Kelley is revisiting its impact and evolution. The campaign increased KBVoiceovers' income by more than 35% and generated more than $75,000 in press coverage, with Kelley gathering feedback on what worked, what didn’t, and how it might be approached differently today. As a part of the anniversary celebration, she will be sharing content from the original campaign alongside new insights across her platforms.

Kelley said:

"When considering marketing strategies for 2015, I asked myself what I wanted in my voiceover career. The answer? To voice for a brand I love, and I love Jeep. This campaign was a passion project that required me to manage not only a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine's worth of moving parts but also to balance it with my full-time job as a voiceover talent. It cost me thousands of dollars, countless hours, and many sleepless nights. Along the way, a once-trusted agent used my campaign for his own gain. In the end, despite not achieving my first goal of voicing for the brand, KB4Jeep was an incredible success financially, professionally, and personally."

Additional recent voice-over projects from Kelley and KB Voiceovers include voicing for ESPN, Michelin, Chewy, Disney, NASA, and countless others. While she is represented by national talent agents, more than 90 percent of Buttrick's business is from repeat clients and referrals from those clients originally generated from her marketing efforts. Her clients consistently comment on her interest in their projects, her professionalism, and how much easier she makes their jobs.

KBVoiceovers' client David Broughton of DJB said:

"Kelley is the best voice talent I’ve worked with in 10 years. She has so much more than a great voice: Her responsiveness to direction, professionalism, communication skills, kindness, creativity, and flexibility, just to name a few. Hire Kelley so she can trick out her Jeep AND make your project great."
