May. 10, 2017

Joaquin Espagnol has joined Cheil Worldwide Spain as Executive Creative Director to head up its creative department.

Joaquin took up his new role on 24 April and will work across all of Cheil’s clients, reporting to Yann Baudoin, MD, and Kelly Kim, President and CEO.

His most recent role was Creative Director for Europe at The Cyranos McCann Barcelona. Prior to this he worked as Regional Creative Director at Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi Argentina, where his work helped the shop become AdAge International Agency of the Year in 2011 and the most awarded Latin-American Agency in Clio, Fiap, and Ojo de Iberoamerica in 2012.

With over 15 years’ experience, Joaquin has worked on a global level for a huge range of brands such as Coca-Cola, P&G, Playstation and Unilever.

In 2015, he was ranked by ‘The Big Won’ report among the 15 best creative directors in the world, having won numerous international awards at prestigious events such as Cannes Lions, D&AD, Eurobest, One Show, Clio and Effie Awards.

Yann Baudoin, MD at Cheil Spain said:

“In Joaquín we have found - as well as his outstanding creative talent - a partner with huge drive and curiosity, who will help us uncover new opportunities and innovations and reach consumers in the most effective and impactful way possible. Joaquín is tailor-made for our agency.”

Joaquin added:

“My plan is to build on the great work Cheil is already doing; to keep on innovating and striving for ever greater success. It is an agency brimming with opportunities. Cheil’s deep experience working with technology brands, along with its commitment to have a real positive impact, are ingredients that are truly exciting to me.”

Joaquin will be part of Cheil Worldwide’s Global Creative Product Council, to help reinforce and to boost the network’s creative output. Here, he will work with creative leaders from across the Network including Barbarian Group, Iris, McKinney and PengTai, led by Malcolm Poynton, Global Chief Creative Officer.

Last year Cheil Spain delivered an integrated launch campaign for retail bank brand WiZink, which is jointly owned by Varde Partners and Banco Popular, and joined up with Samsung Electronics to create a ground-breaking new swimming cap to aid blind Paralympic swimmers.
