Mar. 12, 2024
Filmmaker and photographer Gerardo Alcaine has joined L’ÉLOI’s roster.
Originally from El Salvador, Gerardo found his passion for visual storytelling while residing in Montreal, gaining recognition for his work on music videos for local musicians including Milk and Bone, Gabrielle Shonk and Valence. He has since expanded his repertoire to include commercial projects, with recent collaborations comprising a number of notable brands.
From showcasing natural beauty for Olay’s collection on Amazon, to constructing a dynamic dance experience for Little Burgundy, Gerardo’s body of work underscores a growing reputation as a skilful, versatile talent. Characterised by simplicity and lightness, it’s infused with sensitivity in storytelling and centred around emotions and innocence. He’s practical and thoughtful in his approach, putting great care into each visual to achieve his desired effects directly in camera across both film and photography.
Currently, Gerardo is collaborating with musician KROY on the visual campaign for her upcoming album, with a music video release close on the horizon. It’s set to be a deeper dive into KROY’s aesthetic universe, strongly influenced by themes of minimalist sci-fi, alienation, and self-discovery. The partnership is set to continue in future, with an even bigger project coming soon.
Gerardo’s new position on L’ÉLOI’s roster marks the culmination of seven years at the company, initially joining as a marketing intern. Having impressed the team with his command of technique, collaborative nature and organisation on set, he’ll now have the backing of L’ÉLOI’s full production crew as a director, propelling him to explore larger scale commercial projects and further reinforce his visual trademarks.
Gerardo Alcaine commented:
"L’ÉLOI is a place that I’ve seen grow from the inside, and where I’ve seen myself grow. It’s my ideal partner not only for my artistic and professional aspirations, but also for my development as a human in this industry. It’s a great collaboration, in which we’re all pushing towards the same objectives. It’s also a huge privilege to share this space with other extremely talented artists and friends. I want to keep creating things I love and keep improving my art."
Eloi Beauchamp, CEO and Founder of L’ÉLOI, added:
"It’s clear that Gerardo is destined for great things, thanks to his unique talent. He creates beauty with simplicity, showcasing his keen eye for detail, and his amiable personality makes him a favourite collaborator among peers and clients alike. With all the ingredients for success – talent, edge, sensitivity, work ethics – there’s no doubt that his career is set to skyrocket rapidly."
