In this new episode of Gerety Talks, our three guests discuss the creative scene in the Netherlands, from their different points of view linked to their careers in graphic and interior design, creativity and earned media and PR. They comment on Amsterdam's reputation as a creative hotspot, noting the Netherlands history, culture, and solution-oriented mindset as well as its openness, which attracts people worldwide. Among the challenges mentioned for the ad industry, they discuss the high expectations with low budgets, tight deadlines and the need for the ethical use of AI as well as encouraging human emotional touch and intuition in storytelling. As part of the advice for those entering the industry, they emphasized persistence, networking and self-discovery.

Born and raised in Berlin, Gesina holds a masters degree in Communications Design. She worked for international renowned agencies in Germany and The Netherlands like FutureBrand 
 as a designer and creative director before she co-founded Amsterdam based agency DAY in 2007. Day is a brand strategy and design agency focussing on retail, sport, leisure and entertainment markets as well as consumer brands. Gesina is passionate about the reinforcing connection of spatial-, graphic-, and digital media. 
 Based on strong strategic thinking, Gesina excels in approaching her work with a holistic view, 
 always balancing on the border between all disciplines of design.

Dorien Kuiken, Managing Director & Co-Founder at Fitzgerald, a purpose driven communication agency. Before she founded Fitzgerald, she started her career in account- and project management at full-service agency Typhoon Amsterdam. She has a degree in Psychology.
Dorien Kuiken is convinced that brands can and must strive to change our world for the better. Named in honour of JFK’s New Frontiers ideology which fought for equality for mankind, her agency Fitzgerald works to use their influence and reach in media to bring about real positive impact. Fitzgerald works for A-brands.

Marloes Scheffers is a multi-skilled creative director with over 15 years of international experience across digital, social, PR and above-the-line advertising. She has honed her craft and expertise working for a range of renowned local and global agencies across these sectors and joined H+K in May 2022 as a member of the I+C European hub. Marloes is passionate about ideas with social impact that make the world just that little bit better and has produced category-defining and award-winning campaigns for several companies, brands and organisations. An adventurer at heart, Marloes believes the best things come from living outside your comfort zone. She has lived and worked across the world, including Belgium, France, Kenya, Indonesia, the UAE and UK.
