Gerety Awards Presents: Gerety Talks with 72andSunny
Sep. 08, 2023
Just like the award show, the Gerety Talks series puts some of the marketing and creative industries true changemakers in the spotlight and at the centre of the conversation for a refreshing take on what leadership looks like.
Tahirah is a Creative Director at 72andSunny Los Angeles. She's passionate about using storytelling and great creative ideas to foster human connection and celebrate the underrepresented. At 72andSunny she has created work for a range of clients, including United Airlines, Pvolve, Team USA, Adobe, Pinterest, Google, Allstate and UGG. When she's not creating within the 72andSunny walls, she keeps her creative juices flowing with passion projects, including a yearly publication she co-founded, Plantain Papers, and In For 13, an initiative inviting the advertising industry to get more Black people in leadership.
She spends the rest of her spare time practicing yoga, being bossed around by a 25lb dog, and reminding everyone (including herself) to prioritize a little self-care daily.
Samantha is a Senior Producer at 72andSunny Los Angeles. She thrives in taking an idea on a page and figuring out how to bring it to life within any constraints a project may have. With almost a decade of experience across commercial, documentary and scripted film production, Sam regularly manages multimillion dollar integrated productions from conception through delivery for global brands like Adobe, Activision, Google, and The NFL. Sam takes great pride in collaborating with the team at 72andSunny to discover new talent and learn from diverse production partners.
Katie is a Brand Director at 72andSunny Los Angeles, working on the NFL account. She has over a decade of brand leadership experience across a well-rounded array of categories including sports, auto, telecommunications, retail and spirits. She's passionate about creating great work for brand partners and her work has been recognized with numerous industry accolades including Sport Emmys and Cannes Lions. Sport has always been a core tenant in her life, competing as a D1 collegiate rower for four years and now, focusing on the sport of weightlifting.
Alyssa Georg is a Creative Director at 72 and Sunny, with over the last decade she has created notable campaigns for brands such as Huggies, Reform Alliance, Audible and Etsy with a heightened focus on meaningful storytelling.
Alyssa pushes herself and her teams to use advertising as a way to connect and expand our understanding of each other and ourselves – through insights, visuals and representation. She believes in the power of connecting with people and strives to find the most human and empathetic approach to make people feel something and ultimately drive business results.
Each day she feels a responsibility to use her work as a powerful tool for shaping the world people see and want to see. But she equally values her influence within an agency's walls. She leads with empathy and understanding with the goal to show up everyday as a role model to her team, encourage young creatives, and make her family proud.
