Innocean Berlin And Billyboy Launch Camdom, the First Digital Condom for the Digital Generation

This Sexual Health Month, German condom brand BILLY BOY and Innocean Berlin are launching the CAMDOM App: a first-of-its-kind digital condom that protects from the recording of non-consensual content during sex by blocking mobile devices.

Taking photos, videos or audio without consent with a smartphone has never been easier, which has led to an alarming situation among teens around the world: Once content is leaked, it spreads like a virus making it impossible to track – causing emotional distress, depression, the loss of jobs and even suicidal thoughts among the victims. With that in mind, BILLY BOY and Innocean Berlin have introduced an app that can put an end to this disturbing public health issue.

The CAMDOM app is as easy to use as a regular condom. Before having sex, users place their smartphones close to each other and swipe down a virtual button to block all cameras and microphones. If one user tries to sneak out, an alarm signals a potential threat of non-consensual recording. It can simultaneously block as many devices as needed.

App developer, Felipe Almeida, said:

“Nowadays, smartphones have become an extension of our body and we store a lot of sensitive data on them. In order to protect you from the recording of non-consensual content, we've created the first app that can block your camera and mic simply through the use of Bluetooth.”

As a brand whose mission is to help people unlock their pleasure, especially the younger generation, BILLY BOY sees the CAMDOM App as a proof point of its commitment - because in an always-online world, safe sex in the virtual realm matters, too.

BILLY BOY thinks one step ahead, as brand manager, Alexander Strümann, explained:

“BILLY BOY is a brand known to protect people in the analogue world, so we wanted to take the next step and protect the digital generation from a threat that a normal condom can’t tackle, but a digital one can: Namely, the leakage of non-consensual media during sex.”

Gabriel, CCO of Innocean Berlin added:

“At Innocean Berlin we’re all about solving problems not just for our clients, but also for society at large. That’s why it was important for us to develop this app together with BILLY BOY to protect users from non-consensual content leakage - all by integrating technology in a way which has never been done before"

CAMDOM by BILLY BOY is being promoted during Sexual Health Awareness Month through an integrated social media campaign, podcasts, a squad of influencers, and a media strategy in which billboards, stickers and posters will be placed in nightclubs, universities, bars, busy streets and sexual health centres; encouraging the audience to download the digital condom straight away.

CAMDOM by BILLY BOY is now available on Android and will be launching soon on iOS.
