Jungle Studios Welcomes Chris Southwell as Senior Sound Designer

Nov. 15, 2022

Music and sound company Jungle Studios today announces that Chris Southwell has rejoined its ranks, this time as Senior Sound Designer and Creative Director of The Attic.

Chris began his career at Jungle as a runner, working his way up through to Engineer. After moving to UNIT, he helped to build its audio department, becoming Head of Audio and working on projects spanning TV, broadcast, and longform.

One of Chris’ recent career highlights has been his sound design work on "Incubus", a horror short from Kinosys Films and director Tito Fernandes. A large-scale endeavour requiring complete sound reimagination, the project is currently picking up sound design awards on the film circuit.

Now at Jungle once again, Chris aims to keep pushing the company forward, looking at new avenues within the ever-changing sound world and upholding the studio’s high standards. He’s Creative Director of The Attic - an exciting new branch within Jungle that seeks to answer the growing demand for high quality alternative content. He’ll also be involved in the studio’s Masterclass Sessions, advanced audio training for producers and creatives.

You can hear Chris discuss his return to the studio on the first episode of Jungle’s new ‘Pod Talk’ podcast, alongside Bookings Producers Philla Marshall and Sarah Hall.

Chris Southwell commented:

"It’s so good to be back with a fresh outlook! I started my career here and have lots of great memories. Jungle engineers don’t leave too often though, so to further my career I joined Unit where I incorporated Jungle methods and working practices - but I stayed in touch with Jungle and watched how the company continued to push forward and diversify within a constantly changing industry. It was a no-brainer rejoining when the opportunity finally presented itself."

Graham Ebbs, Managing Director at Jungle Studios, added:

"Chris was always a massively popular member of the team and we’re so glad to finally be able to welcome him back with a wealth of outside experience under his belt. Clients spend a lot of time with sound designers in the studio, and no one wants to work with someone who isn’t pleasant - no matter how good they might be. So the fact that Chris is up there as one of the most positive and approachable people you're ever likely to meet is what I think people will appreciate the most. Never mind the fact that he’s a bloody good engineer!"
