Justworks' New Campaign Acknowledges the Emotional Journey of Running a Small Business

Jul. 09, 2026

Justworks, the platform devoted to helping small businesses navigate payroll, HR, benefits, compliance, and hiring, launched a new brand platform, “You Don’t Have To Worry When It Justworks,” that leans into the emotional journey of small business owner.

Starting a business usually begins with a simple dream: make great coffee, open a design firm, launch a product people love. Then suddenly you’re also an HR department. A payroll expert. A recruiter. A compliance officer. And occasionally someone crying over a payroll spreadsheet at 11:47pm on a Tuesday.

The burden of feeling like you're responsible is more common than most founders want to admit: founders are 2x more likely to wear multiple hats beyond their day-to-day role; they’re hands-on leaders doing whatever it takes to keep the business moving forward (MRI).

Justworks saw the problem clearly: small businesses don’t need another tool that creates more work, they need a partner that gives them certainty by taking work off their plate so they can focus on the things they should be focused on. This insight is not only the inspiration for the campaign, but the prime motivator for Justworks’ commitment to evolve as a platform that meets small business owners where they are. “Justworks” isn’t just a name, it’s the core promise of the brand.

The new campaign is built around a simple unspoken truth: founders often feel the need to “do it all themselves’...which ultimately prevents them from doing the stuff that matters most.

Developed with creative agency Quality Meats, which also happens to be a small business that uses Justworks, the campaign came from firsthand experience.

Brian Siedband, Co-founder and Co-CCO at Quality Meats said:

“As founders of an independent small agency, we’ve personally felt the constant stress, the worry, the uncertainty that comes with running a small business. And we also personally experienced the relief of working with Justworks, it saved us at a time when we needed to focus on growing but had no idea how to manage it all. We still don’t fully understand exactly what “compliance” means.”

Catherine Crevels, Chief Marketing Officer at Justworks said:

“At Justworks, we’ve always helped businesses manage critical operational needs, but our role has become bigger and more involved as our customers' needs evolve. This campaign reflects that evolution and reinforces our commitment to helping founders unburden themselves from the operational chaos, allowing for them to focus on building what makes their business special.”

The campaign brings to life the type of uncanny feelings any small business owner will instantly recognize, leveraging visual metaphors that stick with you long after you've seen them.

In one film, a boba shop owner clones herself to run every function of her business because, to get everything done, you feel like you need more of you. Founder. Cashier. Recruiter. HR lead. Payroll manager. Great in theory. Horrifying in practice.

In another, an architecture firm founder tries to do it all - filing new employee paperwork, answering phone calls and emails, and even puppeteering his own employees creating a surreal portrait of the control that founders can't bring themselves to give up, even when doing it all is what’s holding them back.

And an anthem film brings to life the whole journey of starting a small business, loving and nurturing it like it’s your baby, and all the stress and worry that comes from all that caring.

Each story ends with founders finding Justworks to handle payroll, compliance, HR, benefits, and global hiring so they finally let go and get back to doing the thing that inspired them to start their whole business in the first place.

The campaign was directed by Freddie Powell, founder of his own small business Drool Productions, who emphasized a handcrafted world and visual direction to give a human feel to the film’s visual metaphors.

Launching nationwide in July, the campaign will reach founders and small business leaders across connected TV, online video, out-of-home, podcasts, digital publishers, newsletters, LinkedIn, and creator partnerships. Planned and executed by independent media agency Noble People, the campaign extends beyond advertising with customer stories, executive thought leadership, and activations around WNBA All-Star, Fast Company Innovation Festival, and the TCS New York City Marathon, as Justworks continues expanding its role as the platform built to support small businesses from startup through scale.

Because when small businesses partner with Justworks to handle complex administrative tasks like payroll, benefits, global hiring, and compliance, they can focus more on what makes their business special…everything, well, Justworks.
