Lost Planet Welcomes Editor Jo Lewandowska

Jul. 30, 2024

Acclaimed post-production company Lost Planet has signed editor Jo Lewandowska for US representation. Jo’s highly collaborative nature has made her a sought-after name among global production companies and advertising agencies, and her intuitive ability to cut emotionally compelling narratives perfectly aligns with the spirit of Lost Planet. Currently rostered with OkayStudio in the UK and Berlin, her signing with Lost Planet marks a new chapter in the ongoing partnership between the two post houses. With there being so many creative and attitudinal synergies between the two companies, setting the foundation for a long term relationship felt like a natural progression.

Jo grew up in Poland, where she studied Communist-era cinema, theatre, and literature in school, learning to search for hidden meanings, metaphors, and allegories in the work. This formative experience significantly shaped her editorial approach, always searching for instinctive connections between characters and following that pathway to create evocative films with a lot of heart. Her restless creativity led her to enroll at the University of Greenwich, where she fell in love with editing. She went on to become an assistant editor at Cut and Run, where her career editing commercials and music videos took off, and later joined London and Berlin-based post-production house OkayStudio.

Her precise, rhythmic sensibilities have made her a natural fit for moving, narrative-driven music videos for artists like girl in red’s “Too Much,” Rina Sawayama’s “STFU!” and the 20th-anniversary edition of “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. This sensitivity to storytelling can be seen in her work editing award-winning short films “Nature’s Child” and the branded short “Sinking” for Women’s Aid. Her commercial work includes editing spots for global brands like Honda, Dove, Tanqueray, Nike, Lululemon, eBay, Tag Heuer, Schweppes, and Pandora, and fashion films for Max Mara and GQ x Gucci.

Jo says of joining Lost Planet:

“When I visited their offices in New York and Los Angeles, I immediately felt at home. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and unpretentious. The company’s ethos is centered around a collaborative approach to work, which I was immediately attracted to. I’ve followed Lost Planet’s work for a while and have always admired their roster of amazingly talented editors. It’s a real honor to be joining such a well-established institution whose focus is solely on craft and putting out great work.”

Lost Planet’s executive producer, Gary Ward remarked:

“Jo can tap into any human emotion by guiding the audience’s eye with elegant, stylish cuts. She uses the story as a compass, and her edits always elevate every film she works on. Jo handles sensitive topics and comedic timing with expert dexterity – she’s a true talent, and we’re very lucky to have her with us at Lost Planet.”
