RASCAL Welcomes Andy Steele and Mireille Antoine as Heads of CG and Production
May. 07, 2025
RASCAL creative studio has announced the hiring of Andy Steele as its new Head of CG and Mireille Antoine as Head of Production.
The pair join from The Mill, where Andy was CG / VFX supervisor and creative director, and Mireille was Head of Production. There, they had the opportunity to work on several major projects, collaborating closely with director duo DOM&NIC on M&S Food’s Christmas campaigns and helping to craft the now popular Fairy and Percy mascots. Andy also won a Visual Effects Society award alongside his peers for John Lewis’ Christmas film, ‘The Boy and the Piano’ starring Elton John, while Mireille counts among her highlights the development of full CG environments and humans in the cinematic game trailer for ‘The Last of Us Part II’, and Xbox’s ‘Power Your Dreams’ campaign directed by Ian Pons Jewel.
Prior, Andy’s career history had taken him across both China and the UK, having built Smoke & Mirrors Shanghai’s 3D department. While there, he was part of the core team that met with SFG Technicolor, a joint Chinese and European venture, with whom they formed a studio that caught the attention of MPC, eventually coming under its banner as MPC Shanghai.
Mireille, meanwhile, worked across several roles, including QC operator, VT operator, operations, and VFX producer at companies like The Machine Room and The Hive Animation within the VTR Group, and Rushes.
Gareth Brannan, MD said:
"We’re over the moon to welcome Andy and Mireille to team RASCAL. Andy's work is amazing, he marries a deep technical knowledge with creative expertise and Mireille combines a terrific warmth with a wealth of production and leadership experience. As RASCAL continues to grow and evolve we are properly looking forward to seeing where we can go together."
Andy added:
“When I met Gareth [Brannan, MD] and Paul [Mosley, Head of Studio] in person I felt an instant sense of energy, their collective vision for the future had instant appeal. Rascal is built on a very strong foundation of talent and relationships, there is a real buzz in the studio throughout and everyone is pulling in the same direction. When I was formally offered the role, it was a very easy decision. I'm going to have a very busy year settling in and helping the team build the framework for the future. It's exciting times at Rascal, watch this space.”
Mireille added:
“Totally stoked to have joined Rascal and become a part of such a high-end independent studio. I’ve admired Rascal’s work for some time and am thrilled to be working alongside such a talented team where creativity is always at the top of the agenda.”
