Unilever's Royco and frank. Singapore Reunite Cast of Indonesia's Most Beloved Love Story in new Short Film

Unilever Indonesia's popular seasoning brand Royco has partnered with Ada Apa Dengan Cinta, Indonesia's most iconic romantic film franchise, for a new campaign that revisits the country’s most beloved on-screen romance more than a decade after their story concluded.

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta, first released in 2002, became a defining cultural moment for Indonesian audiences, and the 2016 sequel Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2 reunited the nation with Rangga and Cinta. But one question remained: what happened after the "happily ever after"? Royco’s campaign, titled Bahasa Cinta Yang Beda (A Different Love Language), picks up that thread and explores how love can evolve over the course of a long relationship and find expression in everyday gestures rather than grand declarations.

At the centre of the campaign is a short film that showcases Cinta's journey to understand Rangga’s love language and attempt to perfect an omelette — Rangga's favourite dish — as an act of love. The omelette becomes the campaign's central symbol: a simple, everyday gesture that carries more meaning than any grand romantic declaration. Royco positions itself as part of that language — the ingredient in the small, daily moments where love quietly shows up.

This love story is brought to life by Royco in collaboration with frank. Singapore, Omnicom's dedicated Unilever team, and director Teddy Soeria Atmadja — one of Indonesia’s most celebrated film directors, known for his work across cinema and Netflix productions. The film stars Dian Sastrowardoyo and Sissy Prescillia, reprising their roles from the original franchise.

The creative idea draws on a cultural tension deeply familiar to Indonesian audiences: the gap between the aspirational Korean-drama romance they watch on television and the quieter, more real love of everyday life, and centres Royco as the brand that helps deepen connections through cooking.

Ilham Chairat Royco Masterbrand & Innovation Lead, Unilever said:

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta has held a special place in Indonesian culture for over two decades as a story that generations of Indonesians have grown up with and returned to. We are excited to extend the story into something new and relatable for audiences, by asking what love looks like when it becomes part of daily life without the heightened emotions of the teenaged years. Royco has always believed that the kitchen is where love is expressed through the simple gesture of cooking for one another — and this campaign brings that belief to life in a way that feels meaningful to our audience.”

Beyond the film, the campaign extends across a full social and on-ground ecosystem including a premiere event, a limited-edition Royco x Ada Apa Dengan Cinta omelette kit at TikTok Food Fest, and a live podcast. The campaign also invites audiences to participate directly — inspired by Cinta, Indonesians are encouraged to cook their own Omelette Cinta for their partner, with key opinion leader activations and a user-generated content campaign amplifying the movement across social.

At the heart of every omelette is Royco Ayam Kampung, the hero product of the campaign, bringing authentic flavour to what the film positions as love's simplest and most meaningful gesture.

frank. Singapore’s Group Creative Director, Omar Sotomayor Noel said:

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta gave Indonesia one of its great love stories, but like so many rom-coms and dramas in pop culture, it leaves us at the first stage of love with a question unanswered: what comes after? We wanted to explore that stage — when routine and responsibilities take over, and romantic love becomes something more ordinary and more real. The omelette, Rangga’s favourite dish in the film, is a relatable motif, and Cinta wanting to perfect it for Rangga is the kind of gesture that says more than any grand declaration. Building a campaign around that truth and inviting people to share their own omelette recipes and love languages, gave us the opportunity to make something that earns its place in the original film’s story rather than simply attaching itself to it.”
