UTA and the Government of The Bahamas Launch The Bahamas' First Creative and Performing Arts School
Nov. 06, 2025
United Talent Agency (UTA) has worked with the Government of The Bahamas to launch the Creative and Performing Arts School (CAPAS), the first institution in The Caribbean to provide comprehensive training in the creative, performing and production arts.
UTA, working with Screen Yorkshire, played a key role in curating the school’s course modules and identifying and connecting with industry partners and world-class teachers to ensure a comprehensive and innovative learning experience.
CAPAS offers world-class tertiary-level education and training in the performing arts, television and film skills as well as commercial and music video production. The school provides full-time, part-time, and professional-track pathways across disciplines.
CAPAS officially opened its doors for its first 50 students on Monday, 22nd September.
Performing arts courses include acting, singing and dancing, while the creative arts training spans disciplines such as writing, directing and choreography, and production arts cover all the areas needed to present work on the stage, screen and radio, including sound, camera and animation.
As well as offering opportunities for aspiring talent, the school represents a turning point for the country’s creative economy, and aims to position The Bahamas as a rising hub for creative production in the region. Bahamians will attend tuition-free, while international students will pay fees.
Along with UTA, CAPAS is partnering with a number of national and international institutions, businesses and organisations to provide world-class training and create career development pathways for students.
The school is developed by the Government of The Bahamas, but the aim is to grow CAPAS into a standalone institution offering world-class training.
Founder and Acting Chairman of the Creative and Performing Arts School, Ian Poitier said today:
"CAPAS is just the beginning. Our highly-talented, highly-skilled workforce will be the cornerstone to our new creative economy. We are bursting at the seams to bring our Bahamian and Caribbean talent and stories to the world."
UTA’s Head of EMEA Entertainment & Culture Marketing Sam Glynne added:
“This has been such an exciting and different project for UTA. It’s been wonderful working with CAPAS school and helping to bring all our connections from the entertainment industry to The Bahamas as guest lecturers and teachers, as well as offering professional guidance for students on working in Hollywood and beyond.”
