In Portugal, IKEA has partnered with CIG — a governmental commission dedicated to gender equality — to help support victims of domestic violence through a safe and discreet reporting channel. By calling IKEA Customer Support and selecting option 8, callers are automatically redirected to the Domestic Violence Victim Information Line. The call, however, is registered as a contact with IKEA, helping ensure greater protection for those seeking help. Over the past year, IKEA Portugal received more than twice the number of calls compared to 2024. The overwhelming majority of victims were women. But violence against women never affects only women. It impacts everyone around them — especially children. In fact, according to CIG’s latest report, more than half of the women sheltered in safe houses arrived with their children.
