The story of the ENS is an intense story, a story of people who believed in unity, in the sharing of common goals, in the strength of a community. A long journey dotted with progress, sacrifices, daily battles of those who do not give up and which rewards those who have always believed in the self-determination of deaf people.

When the National Deaf and Deaf Organization was constituted - it was 1932 - deaf people were practically devoid of any legal and social rights: equated to subjects incapable of understanding and willing, they were excluded from any legal faculty, they had no right to education, except in religious institutes or private tutors. Their existence in society was, in fact, denied.
