Lime Launches Largest Ever "Unlock Democracy" Campaign in Celebration of 2024 US Presidential Election
Oct. 29, 2024
Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company, today launched its Lime To The Polls campaign, “Unlock Democracy.” Through this initiative, Lime aims to boost voter registration efforts across the US while providing riders with sustainable transportation to and from polling locations.
n cities around the U.S. Lime is showing up with partners like When We All Vote, Community College Commitment led by Levi Strauss & Co., Vote Early Day and more to provide resources to register, make a plan, and go vote. Lime is focused on working with communities where access to the polls isn’t always easy, such as community colleges, transit deserts and states with low voter turnout.
This year, Lime will offer riders two free 30-minute rides to help them get to and from their polling place. To participate, riders can use the code ‘VOTE2024’ from Vote Early Day (October 29th) through Election Day (November 5th). Lime believes that access to transportation should never be a barrier to voting. Through the “Lime to the Polls” program, Lime has supported more than 90,000 free or low-cost rides to vote in local and national elections in more than a dozen countries.
For the first time, Lime will wrap its vehicles with Vote Early Day’s QR codes that will direct riders to a webpage where they can register (and check they are already registered!) to vote. The wrapped vehicles will be available in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, The Bronx, Milwaukee, Omaha, Salt Lake City, St. Paul and Washington D.C.

Additionally, Lime will support When We All Vote’s “Party at the Polls” initiative in Austin, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, New York City and Washington D.C. These free, nonpartisan events turn voting into a community celebration with food, music, culture and more.
As part of the campaign, Lime will use its social channels to encourage riders to go register and make a plan to vote. For example, in Washington D.C., Lime worked with two influencers (@yourdcbestie and @blackmenaces) to show followers how easy it is to get to polling places to vote early with Lime. Sebastian from @blackmenaces also joins Lime on its Bike Brigade event on Vote Early Day where he will interview attendees on what issues matter to them this election.
Emily Gibbs, Senior Manager of Social Impact at Lime said:
"This election is critical, which is why we’re eager to help as many people as possible take part. There are so many key issues at stake that impact people’s lives and we’re committed to making it easier for our riders to vote and make their voices heard.”
Beth Lynk, Executive Director of When We All Vote said:
"Transportation to the polling place should never be a barrier to making your voice heard. When We All Vote is so proud to partner with Lime on the Unlock Democracy campaign to make sure voters are able to get to the polls this year. Voting is the moment, and right now is the time to unlock a When We All Vote-wrapped scooter or bike and a VOTE2024 code while making a plan to vote today."
Vote Early Day Executive Director Bryce Bennett said:
"Lime is a leader in empowering people to the polls. With Lime’s help, Americans will have the rides they need to share their voice and avoid Election Day hiccups in this critical election."
Lime aims to serve as a non-partisan resource to encourage voters to make their voices heard this election. Lime is unaffiliated with any political parties or candidates and aims to get its riders to and from polling locations safely, sustainably and affordably.
